Assists youth aged 14-21 in developing essential knowledge and skills in education, housing, community living, career development, and personal well-being to support their journey towards adulthood.
DFS utilizes several evidence-based models to target the needs of our Transitional Aged Youth (TAY), including Motivational Interviewing, Transition to Independence Process Model (TIP) Core Practices, ARC Treatment Framework, and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI).
At the core of TAY Services is youth empowerment—supporting teens in taking an active role in shaping their futures. Services are developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and free from stigma, ensuring they meet each individual’s unique needs and experiences.
Case managers and behavioral health associates work side-by-side with youth, helping them build real-world skills in self-advocacy, housing and financial management, job readiness, and community engagement. Through group activities and one-on-one support, participants gain the tools they need to break cycles of trauma, instability, and dependency.
TAY Services strive to build long-term resilience, self-sufficiency, and hope—creating a lasting impact for Alaska’s next generation.
